Winter weather and water damages go hand in hand. Frozen pipes are very common during the colder months of the year. Frozen pipes are our number one disaster call during the Winter. Our team wants you to avoid any frozen pipes and water damages this Winter. Below we will discuss a few minor things that can keep your home free of water damages.

Keep Your Home Warm

The primary way to combat frozen pipes is by keeping your home warm. Never turn your heat off for extended periods of time. If you are going on vacation or a business trip, you should still leave your heat on. If not, the cold temps will leave you with frozen pipes and water damages when you return.

Insulate Exposed Pipes

If you have exposed pipes, insulate them. Exposed pipes are not protected from the snow, ice, and freezing temps. This can lead to outdoor frozen pipes and indoor water damages.

Keep an Eye on the Attic and Basement

Your attic and basement are familiar places for frozen pipes and water damages. Basements and attics are not checked as often as other areas of your home, making it easy for water damages to become severe. By keeping an eye on these areas, you can be on top of any water damages.

Keep an Eye on the Weather

Checking the weather regularly can save you from frozen pipes and water damages. If the weather is going to be colder than average, leave the heat a bit higher and turn your water on to a drip. This will help to prevent any frozen pipes or water damages.

Water damages can cause mold growth, which is hazardous to your health. It can also cause structural damages and rot. If you do experience water damages, call a certified disaster cleanup company. If all water is not removed, it can cause extensive damages to your property. Water can quickly seep beneath floors and inside of walls, where it will cause mold and rot.
