Disaster Cleanup Services

Summer is a fun time for most. Family and friends gather for pool parties, and people take vacations, but Summer is also a prime time for home fires. House fires are frequent during the Summer months. As the weather heats up, so do the fires. There are several reasons a fire could occur on your property. Below, Disaster Cleanup Services will discuss the causes and help you be better prepared.

Cooking

BBQs outdoors and even indoor cooking can cause fires. During the Summer, you are generally not as focused on tasks. You have friends and family over and usually a lot of different activities. This alone can cause you to become distracted from your cooking. Most house fires are produced from cooking. This Summer make sure you are focused on your BBQ grill or your oven. Once you are finished, you can relax and enjoy it!

Outdoor Fires/Fireworks

Summer is the perfect time for fires in your firepit. You can roast marshmallows or just relax by the fire. If not watched, outdoor fires and quickly grow out of control, turning your home into flames. Keep an eye on any outdoor fires and ensure they are entirely out before you go inside for the night. Fireworks are a part of many different holidays and are always a fun activity for children and adults alike, but they can also cause fires to your property and home. If the area is dry, a spark can cause a fire to start. Make sure you do fireworks in a safe area, away from your property.

Check your Fire Alarms

Your fire alarms are the single most important lifesaver in the event of a house fire. Your fire alarms will alert you and your family of smoke before it burns out of control. Check the batteries in your fire alarms and ensure they are working correctly. Fire alarms save thousands of people each Summer.

Fire Extinguishers

All adults should know where the fire extinguishers are located in your home. They should also know how to use them correctly. Small fires can quickly be extinguished before they cause any significant damages.
